February 10, 2009

France is bailing-out it’s car makers (Renault and Peugeot-Citroën) because they didn’t make small fuel efficient cars that people wanted… Oh wait.

Speaking of car bail-outs, Nissan is seeking a bail-out. If ONLY they had made small fuel efficient cars that people want to buy….

Why the Mortgage Crisis Happened

January 16, 2009

The best analysis of why the melt-down happened-

“The narrative is of another socialist experiment failed, this time a massive federal effort, imperiling the whole US banking industry. Facing this economic disaster, will an informed American people put their trust Obama’s socialist ideology to bring remedy? To do so is to trust in an acetylene torch to put out the fire.”

Altas is Shrugging

January 14, 2009

Many of us who know Rand’s work have noticed that with each passing week, and with each successive bailout plan and economic-stimulus scheme out of Washington, our current politicians are committing the very acts of economic lunacy that “Atlas Shrugged” parodied in 1957, when this 1,000-page novel was first published and became an instant hit.

The current economic strategy is right out of “Atlas Shrugged”: The more incompetent you are in business, the more handouts the politicians will bestow on you. That’s the justification for the $2 trillion of subsidies doled out already to keep afloat distressed insurance companies, banks, Wall Street investment houses, and auto companies — while standing next in line for their share of the booty are real-estate developers, the steel industry, chemical companies, airlines, ethanol producers, construction firms and even catfish farmers. With each successive bailout to “calm the markets,” another trillion of national wealth is subsequently lost. Yet, as “Atlas” grimly foretold, we now treat the incompetent who wreck their companies as victims, while those resourceful business owners who manage to make a profit are portrayed as recipients of illegitimate “windfalls.”

Lies Of The Auto Industry

December 9, 2008

I’m tired of the lies… The lies of the media and scum-bag politicians and the general American idiot. I’m tired of hearing how GM, Ford and Chrysler put themselves in this mess and are solely to blame. The truth of the matter is that it’s mostly BS.

The Big Lie: “If they had made cars people wanted, they would be okay now.”

1) ALL car companies are hurting! China and India’s government are propping up their car manufacturers right now. Fiat is desperately looking to merge to survive. European manufacturers are shedding workers, idiling and closing factories to survive. Even the japanese, who have been making the ‘right cars‘ all along are hurting! They have unsold cars piling up and they are scared. I haven’t heard but, I’m sure there’s been negotiations all over the world for government assistance.

2) American auto makers have made the ‘right cars’ since their inception. There has not been a time in American history where Americans could not buy a fuel efficient car! Heck, American Motors made it their niche making small fuel efficient cars and where did it land them? Even as AMC floundered, you could buy compact Corvairs, Falcons and Darts. In the gas guzzling 70’s, you could sip gas with Vegas, Pintos and Colts. In the 80s & 90s, Chevettes, Escorts and many more fuel efficient models were freely available to Americans. NEVER has American car makers FORCED the public to buy large fuel inefficient cars. The problem is that Americans (and the rest of the world) prefer large vehicles. Might I point out that even the ‘right car’ makers are in desperate times now.

Lie #2: If American executives weren’t so greedy, the company would have more money.

Granted, I believe that people in business now care more about lining their nests and pillaging what they can get than what is best for the company or it’s customers, the real problem is that it’s ALL EMPLOYEES! Monopolies are bad. ALL MONOPOLIES! Unions are monopolies! Unions have a monopoly on labor and they unfairly drive up the cost of goods. Unions may have had a place 100years ago when workers were being shot by company thugs but nowadays, when a worker can sue for getting a paper cut on the job, they have no place!

American car companies had unions forced on them by labor laws. They now can not shed the unions due to labor laws. Foreign car companies successfully avoided unions and thus have an unfair advantage.

As far as executive compensation goes, yes, they are far too high in my opinion but, 500,000 artificially inflated union salaries have far more of a bottom line impact than all of the executive perks combined.

Lastly, if you look at the extra costs incurred by government regulations that only affect American manufacturers, you’ll see that the government has done even more damage to US companies. Chinese manufacturers can pollute all they want and then dump their parts in the US due to f’d up US laws.

Lie #3: “Who cares if we lose American car companies, Toyota, Honda, etc. are all made in America.”

Oh the ignorance of this one… American car companies build their cars from mostly American made parts. Yes, a portion of parts are foreign made (e.g in mexico) but, foreign car makers are usually 90% foreign parts. When you buy an ‘American Made Toyota’, you are buying an American ASSEMBLED toyota who’s parts have mostly come from japan and china. DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE MONEY LAUNDERING DONE BY FOREIGN COMPANIES!!!! That’s a topic for another post.

Lie #4: “We should let the car companies die. It won’t affect us”

1) I need to write a post about a service economy vs a manufacturing economy and how the service economy is basically a ponzi scheme but, that’s for a later post. Let me just say that no country ever grew economically on a service economy.

2) The Big Three ARE the war time manufacturers. We can not lose them or we lose our war manufacturing capacity. To all of you kooks out there that think that is a positive thing, fuck you, you’re idiots.

3) The job loss trickle effect will be staggering. We not only kill the car companies, we also kill their American suppliers. We could boot-out the foreign manufacturers and not be nearly as affected (because their parts are mostly foreign made).

I could go on and on about this but, it’s pissing me off too much so I’m going to end this here and maybe add more later.

Obama, Change 1976 Style….

October 29, 2008

We’re getting close and as much as I didn’t want to vote for McRINO and wanted Obama to win (because “the GOP needs another lesson”), I’m actually fretting over Obama’s apparent ensured victory.

There is so many reasons not to vote for Obama that I’ve wanted to list them in one posting but everytime I think about writing it, I want to throw up in disgust.

Without getting into his personal racism, radicalism, corruption et al, let me just take this time to tell you what is wrong with him economically-

1) Economic “Change We Need” – The economic ‘change’ that Obama is trying to bring to us is nothing new. His policies are pretty much the exact same as Jimmy Carter’s in 1976- more taxes, more forced energy savings, more welfare. We did this in 1976 and it had disastrous effects economically and socially.

2) Social “Change We Need” – More welfare. Doesn’t anyone remember how many decades it took to get welfare reform passed through the government? Doesn’t anyone remember how bad the welfare fraud was/is? No one remembers the social impact of women having more kids “for a bigger check”?

3) National Policy “Change We Need” – As much as I think the Bush crew screwed up the handling of the past two wars, we have already seen the outcome of trying to reason with terrorists. Terrorists DO NOT PLAY BY THE RULES and never will. As far as making Europe and everyone else in the world like us more, do you remember the tale of the old-man, the child and the mule?

4) Healthcare “Change We Need” – Obama’s healthcare plan is un-doable as he promises. He’s promising more benefits than can be paid for. The next time you are standing in line at the DMV, only to get to the counter and deal with a rude government employee who could care less about her/his job and you’re frustrated with the service you received, think about the service you will get with government managed healthcare! I mean, Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid is doing SOOO GREAT!

Lastly, back to the economy- How can people be so stupid?!?!
1) The economic downturn we are experiencing now was caused by the Democrats (a shout out to Barney Frank).
2) The horrible $700,000,000,000 free hand-out (to their friends) was done by the Democrats (no one remembers Pelosi, surrounded by the Democrats happily announcing their pay-off!?!?)
3) The Obama/Biden “Raise the Taxes” economic plan is NOT JUST FOR THE RICH! It WILL raise the middle-class taxes and it WILL CAUSE UNEMPLOYMENT when businesses cut-back and move more operation off-shore to avoid US taxes.

I could go on, but I have to go to work to scrape some money together and pay some taxes and eek by on what’s left over…

“Vote For Me And All of Your Wildest Dreams Will Come True”

October 16, 2008

I watched the final debate last night and people are calling Obama the winner because he read from the teleprompter more smoothly than McRINO. If you actually listened to what he said, he lost…

Obama’s 2008 platform is “Vote for me and all of your wildest dreams will come true”. He’s promising to spend more money everywhere in government, send out welfare tax-rebate checks to the people who don’t pay taxes, provide a nationalized health-care system while allowing you to keep your own, spend more on subsidizing prescriptions, spend more on schools, spend more on the environment, cut middle-class taxes, spend more on new energy research and etcetera. His platform is “I’m going to buy you everything” all the while reducing middle-classes taxes.

Where is all of this money going to come from? The rich of course (you know, Obama and his friends are going to tax themselves more to provide for you). Obama’s actual plan is to increase taxes on the rich “and large corporations”…

The problem with this imbecile’s plan is that the rich and large corporations will not stand for this. They will do what they have always done- move their money out of the US.

The HUGE US business tax is one of the reasons companies are sending jobs overseas! When Obama rasies the tax, do you think they will open more US operations (and provide more jobs) or move the work to China where it’s much cheaper and the taxes are less???

Same with taxing “the rich”– I predict the Cayman Islands are going to have a VERY GOOD 4 years.

Obama, is going on a spending spree (that will equal or exceed the $700 Billion bail-out that he and his friends pushed through Congress) without a workable way to pay for it. As always, we, the middle-class, who can’t afford tax-shelters or overseas accounts are going to be the ones that are going to suffer.

Get ready for another 4 ‘Jimmy Carter’ Years of stagnation, inflation and un-employment.

Democrats Screw US – AGAIN

October 5, 2008

The Democrat lead pork-filled bail-out ‘of their friends’ package has passed. Our money is now worth 10% less than it was.

In the Senate-

40 Democrats screwed us.

33 Republicans screwed us.

Independent Sen. Joe Lieberman of Connecticut screwed us.

9 Democrats voted for us.

15 Republicans voted for us.

Independent Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont voted for us.

In the House-

172 Democrats voted to screw us.

91 Republicans voted to screw us.

63 Democrats voted for us.

108 Republicans voted for us.

So to sum up, the publicly hated, Democrat pork-filled $700,000,000,000+ bail-out package designed to pay off everyone’s friends and screw us has been passed and George Bush (R) is HAPPILY going to sell us out and sign this disaster!
