The Streisand Effect…

August 17, 2009

I saw this on Reddit-

“I fucking hate Glenn Beck. His book, Common Sense, has hit the stores and I found a very well written review on it. Can you please help me and upvote this review so it makes it to the top? Thanks”

So, I went to Amazon.com and bought a copy of Beck’s book.

BTW, It is nice to see the left maintain their ‘open-mindedness’.

Erin Brockovich – Whoring Herself Out…

February 3, 2009

I see that Erin Brockovich has been busy whoring herself out for some scumbag ambulance chaser on TV.  I’m so sick of seeing it, I now have to change the channel whenever that commercial starts.

The only other thing that make me want to puke as badly is hearing Nancy Grace screech “…a beautiful baby girl missing since…”.  BARF!

Why the Mortgage Crisis Happened

January 16, 2009

The best analysis of why the melt-down happened-

“The narrative is of another socialist experiment failed, this time a massive federal effort, imperiling the whole US banking industry. Facing this economic disaster, will an informed American people put their trust Obama’s socialist ideology to bring remedy? To do so is to trust in an acetylene torch to put out the fire.”

Odessa Cops Get Busted! BRAVO!

December 11, 2008

Corrupt officials are one of the most dangerous things in the world. It makes me happy to see them get caught and even more happy to see them punished!

“KopBusters rented a house in Odessa, Texas and began growing two small Christmas trees under a grow light similar to those used for growing marijuana. When faced with a suspected marijuana grow, the police usually use illegal FLIR cameras and/or lie on the search warrant affidavit claiming they have probable cause to raid the house. Instead of conducting a proper investigation which usually leads to no probable cause, the Kops lie on the affidavit claiming a confidential informant saw the plants and/or the police could smell marijuana coming from the suspected house.

The trap was set and less than 24 hours later, the Odessa narcotics unit raided the house only to find KopBuster’s attorney waiting under a system of complex gadgetry and spy cameras that streamed online to the KopBuster’s secret mobile office nearby.”

Reason Online has a good write-up.

If They Had Only Made The Cars People Wanted…

December 9, 2008

Oh, look, the fuel-efficient, low emissions electric car companies are in trouble also and are looking for a bail-out. Well, they wouldn’t be in this mess if only they had made the type of cars people wanted, you know, small, fuel-efficient, green… oh wait.

University of Iowa Federal Gas Tax Study

December 9, 2008

The University of Iowa has been funded by the US Government to conduct a study of a method of taxing drivers based on a system of tracking your driving.  The system uses a GPS, computer and a wireless phone connection and it records where you have driven, when you drove there and how much gas you used.

I know this because I attended one of their meetings.

The scary thing about this is that they are NOT testing if tracking people and taxing them based on their driving was a good system, they are testing whether the system works.

The system connects into your car’s computer to “read only the mileage” but, since it has a GPS, why connect into the car’s computer?

This system has government scam written all over it.

1) If they TRUELY wanted to tax based on road useage, KEEP THE CURRENT GAS TAX SYSTEM! It is the most fair system.

2) If they TRUELY want to only know how many miles you traveled in a taxing district, why connect to the car’s computer and read the mileage, use the GPS.

3) …and why require you to enter the amount of gas you buy if they are going to tax you by your mileage driven?

The real answer is that they are setting up a system to track people and a system to record speeding and other violations.

This system will not work with older cars that do not have a computer nor do I believe that people will truthfully enter the amount of gas put into the car at each fill-up so, I don’t believe that the system will survive in this incarnation.

The government is up to something and we are going to lose more freedoms…..  Keep an eye on this program.

Auto Industry Bail-out – I Support It!

November 7, 2008

I’m hearing grumblings all over the place about the auto industry bail-out and none of it is positive.  Of all of the various bail-outs that our government has done, the auto industry is the only one I SUPPORT.

Why do I support bailing out the industry? – because, the US government has done the most to kill the US auto industry.

1) The government has laws that makes disolving the unions impossible and the US auto makers are being killed by them.  The foreign manufacters (even their US operations) are not unionized!

2) The various UNCONSTITUTIONAL CAFE rules have really hurt the manufacturers.  Where in the constitution is the federal government given the power to dictate emissions and fuel economy!?!?!  If these are desirable traits, the market will drive them.

3) The foreign manufacturers benefit from lower taxes-

a)  Foreign corporate income is taxed at a much lower rate than the US manufacturers due to the US having the SECOND HIGHEST CORPORATE TAX RATE IN THE WORLD.

b) They import virtually all of their parts and do just the bare minimum assembly in the US.  The US government has written the laws so that it is advantageous to manufacture the parts in foreign countries and then import them with almost no tarriffs.  The US maunfacturers use more domestic made parts and thus are hurt.  The EPA, OSHA, et al have killed US manufacturing all the while giving foreign countries “most favored trading status”.

I’m tried of hearing – “the US manufacturers did it to themselves, they should have made more economical smaller cars”.  EVERY SINGLE US MANUFACTURER has offered small economy cars since the 40’s.  Americans have had plenty of oportunity to by a Chevette, or an Escort or a Neon a any time. All are small and all get great gas mileage.  People tend to buy the larger cars then get pissed when the gas prices go up and then say “That damned Oldsmoble gets horrible gas mileage, I’m buying a Toyota!”  To which I say, “Dumbass, if you wanted gas mileage, you should have bought the small GM car in the first place.

Then you get the “Foreign cars are higher quality” line which is bull-crap.  Studies have identified tha GERMAN cars are thr most problematic (which is funny because they are thought to be the highest quality).  Studies also show that Japanese car owners tend to follow the scheduled maintenance and maintain their cars better than American car owners.  Again, the studies have shown that American cars are just as reliable as the foreign makes when they are taken care of.

Berets Are Ghey!

October 7, 2008

Just a random thought:  The Army adoption of berets was a mistake.  They look gay!  Our Army now looks like every third-world army and the  surrender monkeys!

As a poster on a military forum put it:

“Hot in summer, cold in winter, and it doen’t keep the sun out of your eyes. Priceless.  Oh , and no 2 people wear it the same way.  I think it’s a silly french affectation. “

AND they make the wearer look like a butt-commando!

Warning Of Our Banking Troubles… 200 years ago!

September 18, 2008

“I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs.”

— Thomas Jefferson, Letter to the Secretary of the Treasury Albert Gallatin
