“My Discovery of America (Progressive America, That Is)” by Eugene Veklerov

December 21, 2010

“If you want to socialize with progressive and sophisticated Americans, you have to abide by certain rules. You may hold unconventional views on many issues, but certain ones are taboo. Criticizing socialism is one of them, and a negative attitude toward it will earn you the label of “right-winger.” A more advanced version of this notion is an admission that indeed, the Soviet implementation of socialism was not a success, but that fact does not repudiate the whole idea of socialism. Never mind that every implementation of that idea has been disastrous: in China, Poland, Hungary, Cuba, Vietnam, Zimbabwe, and elsewhere. Some implementations — in North Korea and Venezuela — are unraveling right before our eyes. Yet the progressives wish to repeat the same failed experiment again and again, claiming that the next one will succeed. When they learn that I am a fan of the American version of capitalism, they either stare in disbelief or smile condescendingly.”

Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell Repeal = Bad Idea

December 20, 2010

The primary goal of the military is to break down individualism and make people act as a team. “An Army of one” and “There is no black or white in the Army, everyone is green” are not just catch phrases, it’s the main goal of the military. Splintered forces are easily defeated.

Allowing women to ‘equally’ serve was a bad idea because of this. Women in the military get special treatment. They get ‘privileges’ that are not afforded to men (e.g. they have less harsh grooming standards, less challenging fitness requirements, generally better berthing accomodations (enlisted Navy), and etcetera). On top of this, the main ‘privilege’ that female military members get is that they are handled with ‘kit-gloves’ in general interactions. Male memebrs have to be careful as to what they say or do around females lest they be accused of sexual harrassment. When accusations of sexual harrassment arise, the females are instantly perceived as the victim and the male is perceived as the ‘guilty’. I have personally seen this happen several times. They are a protected class and it creates a division.

Which brings us to openly homosexuals. Homosexuals have ALWAYS been allowed to serve in the military. The only change now is that with the repeal of DADT, the military has created yet another ‘special group’ that furthers causes divisions. I can already predict that “I’m being punished because I’m gay” will soon become a common defense for bad behavior in the military.

The funny thing about this is the few homosexuals that I knew who came out of the closet did it specifically to get OUT of the military. They get got an adminstrative discharge instead of a dishonorable. I’m laughing at the few who are in the pipeline now to be discharged only to soon be told, sorry, you have to stay in. 🙂

Ann Coulter nails it again-

As long as the general has brought it up: Never in recorded history has diversity been anything but a problem. Look at Ireland with its Protestant and Catholic populations, Canada with its French and English populations, Israel with its Jewish and Palestinian populations.

Or consider the warring factions in India, Sri Lanka, China, Iraq, Czechoslovakia (until it happily split up), the Balkans and Chechnya. Also look at the festering hotbeds of tribal warfare — I mean the beautiful mosaics — in Third World hellholes like Afghanistan, Rwanda and South Central, L.A.

“Diversity” is a difficulty to be overcome, not an advantage to be sought. True, America does a better job than most at accommodating a diverse population. We also do a better job at curing cancer and containing pollution. But no one goes around mindlessly exclaiming: “Cancer is a strength!” “Pollution is our greatest asset!”

Sotomayor – Stupid Hispanic Woman

May 28, 2009

“I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life,” – Sotomayor

Yeah because, hispanic women ‘with the richness of their experiences‘ have done such a great job with Mexico (and every other hispanic [read: 3rd world] country) they have been a part of.

All dumb white-males ever do is make 1st and 2nd world countries…

Dr Spock’s Destructive Legacy

March 9, 2009

Having perused the web this morning, I ran across a reference to Dr Benjamin Spock. That reminded me of what a complete disaster his theories on child raising have been and how we are suffering from the effect today.

All of this “build their self esteem at any cost” crap comes directly from this crack-pot. All of the “give everyone a trophy” crap is derived from Dr Spock’s disastrous social experiment.

He, combined with the post-war affluence, has caused the ills that the Unites States suffer from today.

TODAY’S USEFUL IDIOT: Steve Kangas! Oh wait…

March 7, 2009

I was browsing around the internet today and I ran across this pathetic attempt to re-write history and paint the moron Carter in a better light.

“Carter cannot be blamed for the double-digit inflation that peaked on his watch, because inflation started growing in 1965 and snowballed for the next 15 years.”

Having lived through these years, I clearly remember what a disaster Carter was.

“In 1980, the ‘misery index’ — unemployment plus inflation — crested 20 percent for the first time since World War II. Ronald Reagan blamed this on Jimmy Carter, and went on to win the White House. Reagan then caught the business cycle on an upswing, for what conservatives call ‘the Seven Fat Years” or “the longest economic expansion in peacetime history.’

Were either of these presidents responsible for their fortune with the economy? No. Carter battled the peak of an inflationary trend that began in 1965. In the following chart, take special notice of the long, slow climb in the inflation column…”

Carter didn’t battle the peak of an inflationary trend that began in 1965, HE CAUSED THE PEAK(S)! Reagan didn’t catch the business cycle on an upswing, HE CAUSED THE ECONOMIC UPSWING. I was there, I remember! The markets (and pretty much everyone) were so happy to be rid of Carter that things just got better on the news. Hell, even Iran returned the hostages on the news of Reagan’s win.

Anyway, not being satisfied with actually living through it and knowing what happened, I looked at Kangas’ own data. Here is a graph, made from Kangas’ own data, that pretty much proves Carter was the force behind the economic disaster that was the 1970s.  PLEASE NOTE: Unlike the presidents, Nixon, Ford & Reagan, Carter’s I*U line only increases.

[Un]fortunately, this nut-ball Steve Kangas died in 1999 so this award has to be awarded posthumus. It will still be awarded because some other kook is keeping his site up and running.

Speaking of car bail-outs, Nissan is seeking a bail-out. If ONLY they had made small fuel efficient cars that people want to buy….

Altas is Shrugging

January 14, 2009

Many of us who know Rand’s work have noticed that with each passing week, and with each successive bailout plan and economic-stimulus scheme out of Washington, our current politicians are committing the very acts of economic lunacy that “Atlas Shrugged” parodied in 1957, when this 1,000-page novel was first published and became an instant hit.

The current economic strategy is right out of “Atlas Shrugged”: The more incompetent you are in business, the more handouts the politicians will bestow on you. That’s the justification for the $2 trillion of subsidies doled out already to keep afloat distressed insurance companies, banks, Wall Street investment houses, and auto companies — while standing next in line for their share of the booty are real-estate developers, the steel industry, chemical companies, airlines, ethanol producers, construction firms and even catfish farmers. With each successive bailout to “calm the markets,” another trillion of national wealth is subsequently lost. Yet, as “Atlas” grimly foretold, we now treat the incompetent who wreck their companies as victims, while those resourceful business owners who manage to make a profit are portrayed as recipients of illegitimate “windfalls.”

Further Proof That The Nobel Prize Is A Joke.
